02 Sep A Lesson On Deception
Was given Matthew 6:33 earlier and was meditating and pondering on it with God.
Was fasting and praying over lunch at Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist, crying out to God how to seek His kingdom and righteousness.
Later I went to Tanjong Pagar Hawker and a stranger handed me a card with the verse Matthew 6:33 on it. I thought she was God sent! An immediate answer to my crying out.
However long story short, there’s a bit of uneasiness here and there as we communicate on whatsapp. We arranged for dinner at her place.
Before that, we were praying and seeking the Lord to make sense of this encounter and budding relationship. As I had a sense of doubt and uneasiness, I had also gathered some prayer support and discernment from church.
In the end we learnt that this was not from God and we stopped communicating but our heart posture is that we prayed for them to be in the light and for God to save them.
We learnt a great deal about deception and saw first hand 2 Corinthians 11:14 ” And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”
Leaving details out but some key pointer:
- The enemy knows scripture well so he uses scripture to deceive too
- We can pray for protection, wisdom and discernment, including getting discernment from other mature believers
- Discern using fruits of the Spirit and seek alignment and mis-alignment with scripture. Enemy uses scripture in the wrong context and there will always be some cracks of mis-alignment to the fruits of the Spirit and character of God.
- Finally we seek God and must have a peace that surpasses understanding which is the assurance from God Himself.
